Bangladesh, one of the most densely populated countries in the world, is renowned for its monsoon rains and cyclones which cause wide-spread flooding and chaos to over a third of the country on an annual basis, severely hampering economic development. Poverty is widespread and around 36 per cent of the population lives on less than $1 a day. Over seven per cent of children under the age of 14 are in the labour force. Journey to Dhaka, the capital, and meet nine-year-old Akash, a victim of natural disaster and one of the millions of working children facing a bleak and hopeless future.
